Running like crap, how to pull codes.

So I definately messed something up the other day when I downshifted really hard and bounced off the limiter a few times. I was sick of slow traffic and trying to get to work, it was dumb, I know. Now the car is running really rough and I can't really figure out why. It's not making any weird noises just runs like crap. (Note, I replaced my opti, plugs & wires just last summer). Anyway, how could I tell if I bent something in the valvetrain or worse? Would it throw a code?

Also, I was wondering what programs and cables you guys use to pull codes. Mine's a 95 with the OBDII connector but OBDI computer.

Bent valvetrain parts won't throw any codes. You will need to scan the car with an OBD-I scanner and appropriate cable. Could be that you bent some pushrods. I would look there if you are feeling it miss.

Autozone won't scan 95s either.

Can I just pull the pushrods out after removing the rocker arms, or should I take the intake off as well?

You don't need to remove the intake to remove the pushrods.

95s need the special cable. Scanner manufacturers make the cable to go with their scanners.

Actually, you can use jumper wire to short the ALDL pins and flash the codes on the SES light, for the 93 (only) LT1's.
