Running guideplates w/ SA Roller Rockers!
Re: Running guideplates w/ SA Roller Rockers!
[QUOTE=SStrokerAce] Those things do odd things in there when they are opening and closing the valve 50 times a sec
You spin your motor to 12,000?
Just joking man.

'50 times a sec' x 60secs[ in a minute]=3,000 times that each valve opens/closes per min... x 2 'revolutions of crank per valve opening' = 6,000 crank rpm.. sounds about right to me..
where'd you get the 12,000 figure from?

Use them, then you deserve what you get. You acquired a worm/bad set of rockers. Sometimes, being 'blunt' is the better approach, when it comes to advice. Wouldn't be surprised if the goof you got them from, had run them with guide plates. You can lead a horse to water.....

This topic is one of those, that has been discussed to ad nauseam. There should be plenty of info in archives for reference. The previous statement is also, for those that do not understand, and continue to post inaccurate info/recommendations. These rockers appear to be worn, and/or misused, from lack of a knowledgeable install. If the rockers, in the pic, are representative of the majority, I would consider the entire 'misused' set garbage, and not worth rebuilding. Even with filing and/or grinding of areas of interference, using them is not recommended, for any length of time. I certainly would not use them along with guideplates, as a crutch. Wouldn't surprise me, if original owner, installed them with guide plates. That, or ran them extremely loose. I realize, it doesn't sound good, but I consider the purchase, a poor investment.
