You can do it but you better have some very very nice pushrods in there or you will wear the sides quickly, and or the trunion of the rocker.
I would not do it.

SA rocker lines up perfect with the valve, the guideplate may steer the pushrod off coarse slightly, however put it all togheter, if the pushrods clear the guide plates then you can definetely use them.

The reason i asked this question is becuase the RR's i bought are SA but the part the keeps the RR's on the valve is kinda worn down! What should i do about this? Not worry about it or what? Here are some picstures of what i'm talking about!

I put one on the rocker stud and it doesn't seem to slide back and forth on the tip of the valve! You think i'll be ok with these? about 12 of the 18 look like this!

Thats very questionable, what does the rest of the rocker look like, are the trunions loose? does everything move freely?
Do the roller tips roll or drag?
can you rotate the side washers on the tip to where the better part rides onthe bottom?

I'm just going to put these on for a while and i guess save up some money for a rebuild kit or just buy some new ones. The rest of the rocker looks fine just a couple scratches here and there...i didn't know they were messed up when i bought them.

Actually even if they line up DON'T EVER USE THE TWO TOGETHER. Those things do odd things in there when they are opening and closing the valve 50 times a sec. Running them together has a very high chance of breaking a pushrod down the road, might not happen right away but it's going to be ugly.

Another one of those thread topics that has been beat to death. Either to lazy to do searches, or it just is not sinkin' in. Then, to top it off, bad/inaccurate info continues to be passed on/posted from thread to thread. As to the original poster, you've been had. Deal with it. Either rebuild them, or scrap them. Use them, then you deserve what you get. You acquired a worm/bad set of rockers. Sometimes, being 'blunt' is the better approach, when it comes to advice. Wouldn't be surprised if the goof you got them from, had run them with guide plates. You can lead a horse to water.....
