Running a 96+ rotating assembly in a 95 LT1

Hey everyone heres my question.

Im running a 96+ rotating assembly in my 95 LT1. I know this because when i pulled the timing cover i found a crank reluctor plate, the thing the crank position sensor reads.

Now since i have no CPS, i simply didnt put the plate back in after my cam install. Could this have caused any problems? Is the plate needed for anything other than the CPS sensor itself?

As some of you know my car ran a 15.5 recently so im really digging around tryin to find out what could be making me run so terribly.

The 96+ crank hub is shorter than the earlier years by the thickness of the plate, so if you're using the early hub you're ok, worst case the belt will be of a bit. BTW the 96+ has better connecting rods.

I guess running the car with the plate in there wouldnt hurt anything either? Someone told me it might be a spacer for the crank hub and the timing gear?

Unless you get an early crank hub assembly, you will have to reinstall the reluctor. Without it the belts will never line up and thus not stay on.

It ran fine for about 2000 miles without throwing a belt...granted it ran mid 15s at 94mph...
