Which RTv is best for all?

Intake, water pump, valve covers, etc...
Which is best to use, the copper or the black? I am using copper spray on the intake gaskets but as far as RTV, should I get the black or copper RTV? Does it really matter?

Not really, I use the copper and have had no problems.
Might as well use the high temp stuff.
Only difference I know of is some set up hard and others set up soft, meaning that in an application where the parts may move around a bit a soft setting RTV will still seal but also allow for a little movement between the parts.
I know I am not explaining this well so maybe someone who can will give us some knowledge.

The only real advantage of black RTV is that it has a much quicker cure time than the others, its the main reason why you see black RTV used exclusively by the automakers. For a high temp application I use copper, but for things like valve covers, water pumps, 'stat housings I use black.

I'm sure the copper would seal, but you might as well spend a couple bucks and get the right stuff, the black i guess. I actually use rtv grey for engine stuff and the copper just for exhaust.

ps, i'm registered as state college pa but actually live in kutztown for the summers. What color is your car?

I'm in Exeter, actually a mile or two from Rapid Motorsports if you know where that is. I go up to Blandon a few times a month. We'll have to get together when my current toys are installed fianlly. The pictures taken of the two Birds in front of a garage on your homepage...where is that located?
