Oil Pan Leaking Problems-Canton Pan
Oil Pan Leaking Problems-Canton Pan
I have yet to get my Oil Pan to 100% seal correctly. I dont know if my Canton Oil pan is not perfect or if I just suck
, but wanted to get some input about what you think I can do to make sure it seals correctly this time. BTW, the motor is out of the car.
~~ Only leaking in the back ~~
I've tried using just the standard Felpro Oil Pan gasket w/ no additional sealer... no luck
Also tried using the Felpro gasket and putting black RTV on the front and back... much better but no luck
Did the same as above w/ the black RTV and it seemed to seal, but as I drove the car it started leaking again and seemed to get worse the more I drove.
Did the same as above with the higher Temp Orange RTV stuff, and just about the exact same results.. was improved but still leaked...
So....... now onto my 5th attempt to make this thing work... I bought some Gasket maker stuff, it comes in a Black Can, and the guy at Autozone Recommended it. Said his friend uses on his race car w/ 12.5 Compression etc... The stuff, I guess, seals really good and help where there may be inperfections.
The directions say put about 1/8 to 1/4" of the stuff on the surface, then place the pan on, tighten bolts finger tight, let cure then come back and tighten bolts up rest of the way. The guy said not to use the Oil Pan gasket AND this stuff, just said use this stuff by itself..
Just wanted to get everyones opionion on this, I really just want this problem fixed.
It's either this or try another Felpro gasket and then use the copper RTV stuff to help seal it.. or any ideas you all may have..
Thanks,
Jason
