Question RPMS sticking at 2k and smoke from oil dipstick

ok men, car is a 96 T/A v8 6 speed

yesterday i changed the fuel filter, i only mention it because soon after the change is when the rpms started sticking at 2k. As i slow to a stop in nuetral or with clutch engaged, the rpms decline to 2k then just stick there until i come to a complete stop, then they drop to normal 900 idle range.

also- yesterday some smoke was coming from the oil dipstick that i had never seen before, just a small amount.

any help or idea is much appreciated
Josh

Try dabbing some oil on the TB butterfly rod where the rod enters the housing to cure the rpm hang issue.

At idle, unscrew your oil filler cap, do you seeing puffing smoke? If you, your ring land(s) are toast.
