RPM rev limit?

What is the rpm rev limiter on the stock lt1? Also what happens when you hit it? I mean do the injectors shut down or what?

The stock settings for the M6 are 5,886rpm in 1st gear, and 5,805rpm in all other gears. Probably similar in the A4 program, but I'm not sure about that. Cuts fuel (injectors).... it will sound like a large "bang" and there will be a total loss of power.

I am reaching 6275 rpm's on the datalog and it will sputter for a split second like the fuel was cutoff. I had it tuned but don't know if he raised the rev limiter or what. I assume he lift the shift points alone but then why is it shifting so late? I used to have a hard shift that would chirp the tires and now it seems like the car shifts very soft after the 3.73 gears and the retune.

Old post ressurection ...

Curious how the PCM knows which gear you are in.

And what happens to the rev limiter if the trans portion of the wiring harness is discarded?

Would I get those extra 80 revs in all gears and not just 1st?

By comparing the tach and Vss probably (unless it has a 1st gear sensor)... and the automatic trans is conytolled by the PCM.

It assumes or defaults to something and your speedometer and odometer stop working.

Are you trying to ghetto-rig something?

Re: RPM rev limit?

I road race in CMC. Everything, including the tune, has to be stock.

My car has no cluster.

If the stock rev limiter is indeed split and different from first and 2-6th and PCM defaults to the 5886 RPM for all gears, that could be deemed illegally tricking the PCM.

And in a spec class, those 80 revs could mean the difference in winning or being an also ran. Yes, it's that competitive.

Why are there different rev limits for the different gears?
