Which route?
Which route?
well guys, It is time for me to start saving for my spring project. I am going to do a motor swap, but have 2 choices
Buy a short block to build...
Rebuild my block
rebuilding my block is gonna be at least 1k for the machine work, plus assembly costs, so I am kind of ruling that out.
Now for the motors to buy.
Motor 1: 355 with
Eagle 3.480" 4340 Crankshaft
Eagle 6.000" Connecting Rods
SRP Pistons
Perfect Circle Rings
Clevite Rod Bearings
Clevite Main Bearings
Clevite Cam Bearings
ARP Main Studs
Balance Rotating Assembly
Fully Machine Block w/Deck Plates
Blueprint and Assemble Short Block
$3290.00
Motor 2: 383 with
Eagle 4340 3.750" Crankshaft
Eagle 6.000" H-Beam Rods
SRP Forged Pistons
Perfect Circle Piston Rings
Clevite Rod Bearings
Clevite Main Bearings
Clevite Cam Bearings
ARP Main Studs
Fully Machine Block w/Deck Plates
Balance Rotating Assembly
Assemble Short Block
$3415
or buying this rotating assembly and getting my block machined out n such with this
Eagle ESP Cast/Steel 3.750" Stroke Crankshaft (Internal Balance) 1 piece rear seal part # 103523750i or 2pc crank 103503750i
6.0" 5140 steel SIR (Full float bushed) rods with ARP bolts (SIR6000BBLW), these rods are clearanced for up to a 600 lift cam!
SRP forged flat top 11:1 with a 64 cc head, or 9.8:1 with a 72 cc head.
SRP DISHED pistons 10.5:1 with a 58 cc head, 9:8:1 a 64 cc head, 9:1 with a 72 cc head. (Compression also dependant on your deck height)
Pistons available in .020, .030, .040, or .060
Perfect Circle or Speed Pro Premium Plasma Moly Ring set
Clevite 77 MS909P Main & CB663P Rod bearings
This kit has been balanced on a Hines computer system and is ready to be installed!
I plan on running LE2 heads and a custom grind cam along w/ the supporting mods. Which would you guys think?

Re: Which route?
what compression are either of them? running boost? NOS? NA?
if NA i'd go with the 383. if you;re going boosted i'd ask tehm to replace the rods in the 355 with forged and run that one...since it's blueprinted.

Re: Which route?
I am going to run NOS. I am thinking of picking up a forged rotating assembly from eagle (found one for 1100), and then I can get my block machined out and assembled for around 1k, leaving me the rest for my heads, cam, etc.
