Rough starting

I got 1994 z28 w/ Oversize camshaft, flat heads, and a couple other mods....I'm having a problem with starting the car. ON key turn, alternator attempts to turn, after a couple tries the engine cranks....later on the car just clicks..engine doesn't attempt crank..just coil click. Only way my car starts is if other car jumps. What is wrong????Alternator and battery are brand new and wiring has been checked. Could it be possible that the stock starter isn't strong enough to start the car? OR will a stock starter work?

Do you mean "ON key turn, STARTER attempts to turn"?

If that's what you mean, sounds like the starter may be weak and/or drawing excessive amps. If you really mean your alternator doesn't turn..... that's unusual.

Moving to "LT1/LT4 Engine Tech"..........

Possible dirty or loose connections on both ends. Maybe bad ground or power wire. I had one almost eaten through years ago. I would take it to someone and have them test the system. My starter just went out and did almost what you said, so it is a very good possibility. That can be removed and tested at the auto parts store also. I knew mine was bad cause it would attemp to start and then nothing. I got under the car and tapped it with a hammer and it fired right up.
