rockers hitting dual valve springs !! Help?
I just got my heads back from Lloyd Elliot and I had the dual valve springs put on the heads. The only problem that I am running into is that the original 1.6 RR that came with the hotcam kit are hitting the retainers of the springs. I ground a very little off the rocker but they still intefere. The roller tip is not touching the tip of the valve. I am using the stock 93 hardened pushrods. What should I do? I did a search and found nothing on this. I am using ARP rocker studs if it matters.
You may need different length pushrods depending on whether the installed height of the springs has changed when you went with dual valvesprings.
Did you put in new valves too? Most afkt. performance stainless valves have a longer valve stem height than stk. valves, this combined with the possibility of a higher installed height of the springs could cause your rockers to touch the retainers.
Get a pushrod checker to check the geometry of the valvetrain and to figure out what the proper length of pushrods you should use, this should fix your problem.

I think this may work.

To install larger springs on LT1 heads don't you have to machine the spring pockets for them to fit? The original poster mentioned that he has a LT4 hotcam kit on his engine. I take it that would mean he has LT4 springs on there. They should be stk. diameter size and his rockers shouldn't really touch the retainers at all if everything else checks out.
I'm running the Crane 10308 kit on my heads with Crower SS rockers didn't have any problems with the rockers hitting the retainers. I also changed my pushrods to CC chrommoly ones don't remember if they were a different length or not but I did check the geometry to get the right length PR's before ordering them. My heads are stk., haven't touched them.

They are longer valves and dbl springs. I would use an adjustable length pushrod and check geometry. At 1/2 lift, the roller rocker wheel should be centered on the valve. If this means a longer pushrod, COOL and you might be able touse these rockers. If it needs a shorter pushrod, some serious grinding would be needed on the rockers.
If this is the case, some NSA rockers with more clearance in this area and guide plates would be the best set up.
Gimme a call if you need ANY help figuring it out.....Good Luck.
