rocker lash setting poll

Just curious,

For those of you who have installed a cam and rockers, how many of you re-adjusted the rockers shortly after running the car? And, did you notice a difference?

I do mine 1/2 past as well. just bring up tdc on #1 and follow the book then bring up tdc on #6 and finish. I have no problems with this method.

I went ½ with Crane lifters. Apparently you barely have to use any with R's though...

I have the Pro Mags, and initially adjusted them at 1/4 past snug while putting the engine back together. Was wondering if anyone readjusted theirs shortly afterwards after running the car a few times and getting some heat cycles into the setup

About 1/16 turn past zero lash with Comp Rs. Any more and you risk collapsing them.

acctually with Comp R's you don't risk collapsing them, problem with going tight on them is at high RPM the plunger will extend full like a solid lifter is basicly, this will keep your valve from closing all the way so either you valve float or bend some valves/pushrods when piston hits valve.

Great info everyone.. I'll probably try to adjust them here tonight or tomorrow while idling before I take the car off the ramps..

Oh so not true. I went 1/4 with my Comp R's. Shoebox suggests 1/2 turn with them, but also agrees 1/4 should be fine.

I go 1/4 turn past lash, lock um down, and never have had to readjust them. I prime the engine prior to finding zero lash.

Umm.. It is true, sorry bud but if you're going 1/4 turn then your obviously starting to loose power at high RPM, try 0 lash while car is running & see the difference for your self, anything past 1/8th of a turn & even 1/8th at times my car would rev past 6200rpm or so & would hit a wall.

I'll leave them as is for now and I'll readjust them afterw driving it for a week or so and see if I note a difference
