Rim screws 4 slicks???

Just ordered a set of Hoosier 27x10.5x15 should i drill the holes in my welds now or should i wait and see if they turn on rim and then drill holes. My quest is Will these MOST likely spin on my rims.

i dont even think it would be a good idea to drill holes in a wheel.

The tire manufacturer's all recommend it. They have been doing it in all forms of drag racing for years without any problems that I know of. In fact, until this year when the NHRA instituded a rule in Pro Stock that says, all cars must use beadlock wheels, that's what the Pro Stock ranks did. I don't know for sure, but I would suspect that before the invention of the beadlock wheel, that's what they did in Funny Car and Top Fuel.

If you think you are going to make enough power to spin the tires, or if you are going to use tubes, I'd do it now. If you have the tires mounted then decide to do it, you will have to remove the tires, drill the holes, remount the tires and have the whole thing rebalanced. That's what I just had to do when I decided to put tubes in my slicks. It's not like it's going to hurt anything if they are there and the tires don't spin on the wheel. Just MHO

The real question is do you drill and screw now or do you do it after wasting a trip to the track?

I would do it now also...That way if you spin at the track you'll know its the tire spinning on the track surface and not tire spin on the rim...you'll be able to dial in your suspension much easier...

I didn't screw my ET Streets to my rims at first. After them spinning on the rims, they tore up the beads so much, they won't seat now. I eventually HAD to screw them to the rims.

My advice is do it now, before you ruin the tires.

I've always used rim screws with slicks, with or without tubes.

I would recommend it. We've been doing it on our dirt track cars for years. It DOES definately help.
