Rewiring O2 sensor

I've managed to semi-burn the wires running to my passenger side O2 sensor because they got too close to the long tubes. I noticed this issue when the car popped a code with low activity of that sensor. I've since wrapped the wires up in electrical tape and ran them in a way that won't let it happen again. I can tell that bank is still a little on the slower side so what's involved with doing this? Can I simply snip the wires and just run new wire for that section or do I need to run all new wire to the PCM?

I understand that, but will I need to run entirely new wire or can just cutout the bad portion and use new wire. The reason I ask involves wire resistance and such which could effect the readings to the pcm. Am I incorrect in saying this?

Cut out the burn parts, as long as your using the game gauge/type.
