Rev Limited?!?

I just recently had a tune done to push my car to 6200 RPMs.

I swapped out a 6K pill into my MSD 6Al for a 6.2K pill.

When I took my car out for a cruise a hit the Limiter at 6K. When I tried it
again I was able to get to 6.3K but it bounced tremendously.

In my driveway I rev the car up and it limits off at 6K Rpms.

I'm using a digital tach for my RPMs it's goes by incremenrts of 100RPM is very close to the same readings I got with the Tech 2 attatched to the car.

My tuner says the car was programmed for 6.2K

Does anyone know a reason why the car wouldn't go over 6K? which is it's old rev limit? Everything on the Ignition setup is new.

Re: Rev Limited?!?

Valve springs -over revving can cause irrepairable damage to them.

Re: Rev Limited?!?

Check the resistor in the pill... maybe its incorrect, or the contacts are dirty.

Try another pill and see if it works.Sometimes they don't go to 6,200 and just shut down, they may lead into the shutdown a couple of hundred rpm's early.

Re: Rev Limited?!?

You have a rev limiter set in the tune and in your MSD 6AL? I dont think you should be running both should you? Just one or the other. The tune will cut fuel and the 6AL spark? You may have them fighting against each other.

Re: Rev Limited?!?

Thier set to the same limits. The 6AL uses a soft touch rev. The 6AL is cotrolling the show..as far as I know. today I took it out... and I can shift at 6K... but it doesn't go past there... either good timing ... or i dunno what to think any more.
