high end sputter and not shifting

I am having a high end sputter again I thought I solved it, but during a race today it didnt wanna shift until I let out of the gas, and you could hear the exhaust start to break up pretty bad. This problem dosent happen all the time, usually I can cherp second gear really good and get a little in 3rd. Im starting to think it only happens what its hot outside I could be wrong I dk?

So far I have replaced the coil with an MSD Blaster and also replaced the fuel filter. Im not sure what else I should check...Keep in mind i have an A4 with only 54k on the car

Sounds like you're hitting the rev limiter....mine did that. Sometimes it would get sideways between shifts, other times it would hit the rev limiter and pop, then shift.

If this is the case, your tranny is slipping and needs a rebuild.

Yep...sometimes it can be hit or miss. Since the factory tach is inaccurate, and the factory rev limiter doesn't "jolt" the car, but rather keeps the RPM's where they are, I used a scan tool to diagnose the problem, and confirmed that it was bouncing off the rev limiter.
