Replace them while you are in there. I swapped in a hotcam and had two lifters explode in the first 3 months. One I was lucky enough to find all of the parts. The last one exploded just before I tore the motor down and the only parts I found were the body and the cup. Eveything else never turned up.

Comp r's are on the way... the thing that worried me is that my cam is a 227/239 with .560/.577 lift. That amount of lift would worry me every time I spun it high with stock rockers.

Good call, especially with a cam that has that much lift. I'm swapping a similar cam (236/242) in my stroker and I was told by Combo Motorsports that Comp R's are the way to go

I believe there's no real reason to buy Comp R lifters. When I put a new cam in my car I just bought stock lifters again and didn't waste my money on Comp Rs.

Stock lifters are like $160 for a set, unless you got some employee discount. Might as well get the comp rs for that price.

the guy i buy my parts from has put in a lot of heads/cam cars......he said they had a guy who reused his stock lifters for budget reasons, and a few months down the road, put in comp R's and it made a very noticeable difference on the dyno.....i forget how much, but it just goes to show, every little component adds up, especially in the valvetrain.

Mad wolf has a good point, if youre going to lay down 160 + smackers anyway whats 20 or 30 dollors more for a really good set.

Put it like this, I got slightly used comp r's for less than 100 bucks with 2 day shipping... so I'm not really mad I love this board.
