resetting the pcm?

So i talked to this guy and was asking him for advice to get my LT1 faster but with little money. He asked me if i have resetted my pcm and i told him no. He told me I should unplug my pcm for a few minutes, letting it reset then plug it back in.

He said when u start up the motor, the car will run **** poor for about 5mins, and he then said run the **** out of it. Picking up horsepower?

Ive personally never heard of anyone doing this to pick up horsepower, how about anyone of you guys?

AFAIK you wont pick up any power...if any thing you might lose some since the computer will have to relearn all the long term fuel trims....

If for some reason the car could run a little leaner if it was stock you may pick up a handful at most since stock the car runs a tad rich.

you will notice nothing.. that guy is full of crap. for one thing the computer will reset in only 20 seconds after unplugging it and lastly the computer will relearn any fuel corrections that it lost from being unplugged. go out and spend some money if you want to go fast
