Reseal LT1 Help

Need to know how to do this. I want to change the intake gasket, timing chain cover gasket, oil pan gasket (most important)

where can i find instructions on how to do this procedure? I mainly need instructions on the oil pan gasket but all instructions are a help.

Also, planning to get high volume oil pump - which one to get and where to get it from???

thanx guys

Its been posted hundres of times, literally.

Just get a Melling oil pump. I just bought a melling 55HV (high volume) pump for $25 at my local OReillys. Get a new drive shaft w/ steel sleeve (not nylon) while your at it, $5.

Re: Reseal LT1 Help

A chiltons maual, haynes manual will do wonders. AS he said a melling pump and drive shaft, then have the pickup tacked so it doesn't move (not neccissary, but I recommend it.). And you're best bet while doing the oil pan gasket will probably be to drop the k-member. And doing the front cover is easier with the motor out, but it can be done in the car. The intake is probably the easiest one you're trying to tackle.

Tacked? like stapled - kind of?

Will installing high volume pump cost me HP?

Re: Reseal LT1 Help

tacked, as in tack welded.

the power loss with a HV pump is totally insignificant.

Re: Reseal LT1 Help

the power loss from it is negligable. Would you rather have a good volume of oil through your motor or worry about losing 1/4 of a hp?? I'd choose oil, besides as you get more miles on your motor it'll take more volume to get the same pressure as a stock volume pump in a new motor.
