Replacing Head Gaskets. Including pictures.

Hi gang.
Completed a few searches on the forums and done some reading. Own a couple of manuals. I have a 1994 Z28 with 180k, mostly female driven and still runs like a beast, for a stocker. I took it in and had it put on the rack to find a bad oil leak. The mechanic said it was coming from the head gasket. Well...no big surprise. It started out leaking very little a couple of years ago, however it has gotten so bad I am afraid if it ever caught fire it would burn up. So i have decided to replace the head gaskets I have done it on my Jeep and a Honda Accord, so I think I can manage. No hurry, I have more vehicles than I need.
Questions: Has anyone done this recently?...and have any advice on what I need to be especially mindful of? Would anyone recommend doing anything else while I have the top of the motor off? Any particular part/parts you would recommend? Any particular oddball tool I need to add to my collection?I am perfectly fine leaving it stock, however any suggestions would be nice. Here are some pictures. I can add more as I tear into her.

I would check for a leak somewhere other than the head gaskets. Start with the rear of the intake manifold.

i highly doubt its your head gaskets. seeing as no oil flows through them. it might be your valve cover gaskets.

I would not be looking at replacing head gaskets for an oil leak.

Wow, all above said what I would have. Clean every nook and cranny between the firewall and the engine. Yes, it might be hard to do but do it. After cleaning, get one of those mirrors on an extendable handle and look around in places you cannot see from above or below.

Consider the heads as the last option. Lots of money for a mechanic to do this so no doubt they suggested this and would have fixed any other leak along the way getting down to the heads.
