Replacing 2.73's
Replacing 2.73's
Went to the track last week with nearly bald tires, but kept running 14.5 at 97 almost all night long. Come to find out, I have 2.73's, so with the automatic, I'm still in second gear crossing the quarter mark, at about 5900-6000rpm. Only have a Moroso intake and hypertech but now thinking about swaping gears. Possibly 3.42's or 3.73? Anyone done the same thing? Also, what kind of gains could I expect?

easy way to find out.
put the back of the car off the ground so both tires are off the ground. put the car in nutral and turn the tire one complete rotation and see how many times the drive shaft turns.
if it turns about2.75 then u have 2:73 gear and so on

He could just open his driver door, look at the option sticker and find the code GU2 which is the 2.73's. GU5 would be the optional 3.23's. If 1st gear isn't selectable it probably is a 2.73 car as well.

that just makes things too easy!!!
i'm happy with my 2.73 gears. great for racing from 50mph+. however, street racing is bad, so i'm thinking about getting some gears more suitable for the track. i have 3.42's sitting in the garage i could swap in for free so that's the route i might go.
