did you buy a new fan? I bought one and hooked it up backwards. The black wire is not always ground.

Ok here is an up date to what is going on. I am now geting coolant into the engine and have been successful in get some large air pockets out of the system. Tested the cooling fans and now they both come on as they should. and also have replaced the tstat as well. Checked the oil for coolant and there is none present. Still over heating. Is it possible I still have air some where in the system that I have not got out yet? Also still can not tell if the water pump is pumping. Car does not show the signs of a blown head gasket cause it runs the same as it did before all this happened. Now not to familuar with the LT1 motor so I could be wrong about this.

For starters, might want to add basic info about your car.... the coolant system routing is not the same on all years. Or you can go to Shoebox's website, and look at the coolant hose routing diagram for your specific year of car. You can also read his guidelines on coolant system flushing and removing the air.

It might also help if you responded specifically to the questions or suggestions that people have offered. Have you checked the radiator cap? Have you check the hoses to make sure they are connected the right way?

Do you have the correct LT1-specific t'stat? Is it installed right-side-up?
