Exclamation replaced clutch and it still rattles... WTF!?

So i spent the greater part of yesterday afternoon and early this morning replacing my clutch with the hopes that it would.... 1. grab sooner and 2. stop rattling at idle. it does grab a lot sooner thank god b/c it still rattles like hell. the rattle goes away when i push in the clutch so i just assumed that it was a shot clutch but im not sure anymore. what do you guys think?

also, what determines where the pedal grabs off the floor? i have nearly THE EXACT same clutch as my friend has in his car and his grabs right off hte floor. i drove it yesterday and the clutch is fully engaged a couple inches off the floor.. no lie. then what else i noticed was that you dont have to push the pedal in nearly as far either... maybe 2/3 the distance of mine. i just dont see how 2 cars can be so different.

did you replace the pilot bushing? that could be the rattle... or it could be "normal" T56 noise.

you WANT the clutch not to grab till the VERY top. it is easier to drive, and faster shifts. you can have the clutch disenguaged by only pushing the clutch in 2", you can obviously shift much faster.. and around town you only have to push it in 2" instead of all the way.

we replaced the bushing and tested it on the end of the input shaft.. the fit was perfect.

this isnt normal T56 growl off idle bs which i also hate. this sounds like the TO bearing just rattles since its not being used while the clutch is engaged. its not like im gonna tear the bitch back appart to see whats going on since i was just in there and the clutch works fine but i cant figure out why 2 nearly identical cars are so different.

Did you...

Did you replace the throw out bearing when you did the clutch? Like you said, thats what it sounds like. Mine does the very same thing and i'm assuming thats what it is. Just waiting to replace the clutch to change it.

well you get a new T/O bearing when you buy the pp so everything is new.
