Angry replaced all ign. components, still no spark

I have been having some problems lately with the 396. After a month of driving it, it just went dead going down the road. Since then I have replaced: opti, opti wiring harness, coil, PCM, Harness, ICM, and the MSD 6AL, oh and the fuel pump. I have not replaced the crank sensor though. It will turn over, just not crank. I am not getting any spark at the spark plug or the coil to optispark plug. I put a fuel pressure guage on it and it primes to 42 lbs. then when I turn it over it goes down to zero. Is this a problem and what would cause it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Aaron

P.S.--- IF ANYBODY CAN SOLVE MY PROBLEM BEFORE I BRING IT TO THE MECHANIC, I HAVE A BMR TUBULAR STB POWDERCOATED RED THAT I WILL SEND THEM FOR FREE.

hows the fuel pressure regulator? is it stock or do you have an aftermarket one? when you say it will turn over but not crank.. do you mean it will constantly spin if you hold the key down just not fire up?

are you getting spark befor the coil? its possible you got a new bad coil, has happened to me befor

I have a stock FPR. Yes, it will constantly spin, just not crank up. I still have my old coil that I bought about a year ago, I will put it back on and see if it changes anything.

Thanks

might wanna check the regulator too, to see if thats the cause of fuel pressure. Let me know what happens with the other coil, im very interested to find out

If there's a no spark condition, could it possibly be a bad ground somewhere? Have you checked those?

Like Fastbird said, bad ground will cause that. Have you ohmed out the coil to make sure you don't have an open circuit? Corrided connectors?

A few things to check if you haven't already

How did the coil wire look? A bad coil wire would cause lack of spark. How did you determine you had no spark?

The coil had a pin that was bent so I straightened it out and it still will not crank. So, the only thing left is the crank position sensor. I hope

thanks for all the help guys

I guess it will be going to the mechanic in the morning.

The crank sensor is only for missfire diagnostics. I ahve a link that will help you test for spark. my server is down. gimme a few and I will post it

Your ignition fuse under the hood is probably blown. I had the same problem. Driving down the road the car just died. It would keep blowing the fuse. I believe it was fuse 11, a 10 amp fuse.

I swapped out the ICM and coil and it still was blowing fuse when driving, it would idle fine without blowing the fuse. It ended up being that I had a bad crankshaft position sensor that was shorting out while under a load. Changed out the sensor and problem was fixed.

same problem over here

i have never heard of pcms going bad as a "common kinda thing" but i am kind of leaning towards it, my dad is coming up here with a lot of diagnostic tools and we are going to go over the whole electrical system that HBH has put up... i will let you know what i find

PCM failure is not very common but it does hapen. Just make sure that you exhaust all other possible causes first since most are cheeper then a new computer
