My stock muffler has a small hole in it, and rather than be ghetto and patch it I would just like to replace the whole thing.

Is there any good aftermarket muffler that I can just clamp on without welding? The 3" pipe is a clamp and so are the tips, but the pipe running to the tips is welded on the stock muffler so I guess I would need one that comes the same way(or with clamp-on pipes of similar length).

I am not too concerned about performance since I have a cutout, and I like the look of the stock tips(some polished stainless ones would be nice too if anyone knows who might sell those), but I want a muffler under there that will look good and not rust-out. Of course it has to clamp on somehow to save me running to an exhaust shop.

I don't want a cat-back because I would have to reinstall my cutout and my header plumbing changed a lot up front.

yes, it can be cut, and then clamped, i have done it before, but it never holds up has good as welding it.

clamps are ghetto, take the muffler to a shop and just get it welded. probably less than $20

The stock setup is clamped so I really don't see the problem. I hate muffler shops, and most of them around here won't work on stuff if you bring in your own parts.

 

the stock piping is 2.75" correct? it will be hard to clamp 3" to it....

i have taken stuff to 3 different garages and havent had a problem. call around and ask, im sure you can find somebody to weld it on.....

what kinda muffler are you going with?

If you live in a fairly rural community, you should'nt have any problems finding a decent welding shop. Hell, your average farmer would be able to throw a decent bead on it. If you live anywhere near me, I'd weld it for you for nothing. There is ALWAYS someone out there that will weld it cheap.
