K - member installation
I've never seen or heard of keeping the engine in while changing the k-member. Usually the engine is pulled w/ the k member because it is bolted onto that. It might be possible to hold the engine in place w/ a cherry-picker while taking the k-member out. You would also then have to have the front of the car on jacks, if not the whole car. It could probably be done, but it would be fun to try to lign everything back up.

yOU can do as said and hold the engine in place from above with a hoist or you can unbolt it , jack it up and put some stands and chocks up under it to hold it in place, make sure its safe before you crawl under though.
Just replaced mine without removing the motor. There's a nifty device (I can't remember the name but someone will pipe up) that is a plate and you merely remove your fuel rail bolts and this plate bolts right on to your intake. This plate has a hook ... oh, that's it .... the Happy Hooker! Anyway, connect your hoist to the hook and take the weigth off the K-Member and you're good to go. You don't need to lift it high, just enough to drop the K-Member. It's sweet and is a pretty quick job. It's helpful to have someone with you so when you pull the engine mount bolts you can have them raise or lower the hoist a tad until the bolts slide out. Same process when you are getting the bolts back in on the new K-Member.
You'll need to drop your Y-Pipe, unbolt your steeering rack and just tie wrap it out of the way. You'll also need to have it re-aligned when your done.
