Removing the power steering

As the title says, i plan to remove the ac, power steering soon. I was wondering how this will effect the stock rack? I know it will be much harder to steer but thats totally find if thats the only draw back. I want to get rid of the weight and clean up the engine room down there, sides i never use the ac, and the power steering leaks anyways.

Turning the wheel at less than 5MPH is murder, the stock racks gear ratio is not made to function without it. Definitely look at a manual rack when going this direction: https://www.bmrsuspension.com/?page=...d=56&catid=151

Your arms must be significantly stronger than mine to want to take on that challenge But you're right, it is expensive.

LT5,

Using the stock PS rack without power is not going to be easy, and will probably wreck the oil seals; it's a one-way trip. When you need a quick evasion in traffic, you won't have that - you'll have a wrestling match.

Your A/C pump should be free-wheeling, when the A/C is off. With the engine running, have somebody else turn the A/C on and off while you watch the A/C pulley, and be sure that it disengages (to free-wheeling) when the A/C is turned off. The A/C pulley should be nothing but an idler wheel, with the A/C turned off.

If you can find a shop or salvage yard that will trade you for a manual rack, it would keep your cost low and it would be much safer. To me, the "benefits' of this plan are just not enough. I'd say fix your leak, and enjoy the ride.

All IMHO, of course.
