Removing hood liner....

Have any of you removed your hood liner and did it cause any issues? I'd think it would be alright seeing that the SS's came without them but I just wanted to see what those who have done it had to say. Thanks

Re: Removing hood liner....

Go right ahead and remove it. I did.

It's actually a fire blanket. If there ever were a fire in the engine bay, the flames would dislodge it and (hopefully) smother the flames.

i time i had a fire under my hood. the fire blanket works good and killing the flames as they hit it. it saved much from being destroyed. mine will never come off.

Mine's falling apart, and there is such little clearance between the top of the motor and the liner you can actually see where the top of the motor presses against it. I think I'm going to remove mine also.

Re: Removing hood liner....

Anyone know where to get a new one at?

Mine is working on falling apart, and I'd like to keep it there....its not like it weights a ton.

Again, why would you want to?

Re: Removing hood liner....

The previous owner removed the hood liner from the car. He claimed it reduces underhood temperature and improves e.t.s. I think he is full of s***.
He did some other off the wall things to the car also that I am currently fixing. Hopefully a trip to the junkyard will yield me a new liner, otherwise I guess I will be paying a trip to the local dealer.

Re: Removing hood liner....

I have always been in the practice of removing the hood liner, if nothing else for cosmetics.
