Removing the Fuel injection.

I am in the process of removing my LT4 and installing my 434ci. My question is how do I get my stock dash to work, like the oil pressure, water temp. I figured that I would just cut the part of the harness that I don't need and remove the computer under the hood.

Thanks Shaun

The dash gauges - oil pressure, coolant temperature, voltage and fuel level are driven by sensors that connect directly to the gauge, not by the PCM.

Are you saying you are removing the PCM?

The speedometer is driven off the VSS sensor on the tailshaft of the tranny, through the PCM, but could be driven directly from VSS with an adaptor from Dakota Digital. Tach comes off the PCM, so you will need to interface it with the coil - not sure how.

What are you doing for a fuel pump? The stock fuel pump is controlled off the PCM, and that requires the low resolution pulse form the Opti - which you obviously won't have.

I highly doubt he's using the stock pump w/ a 434.

Run the speedo off the VSS sensor w/ the DD box and get an aftermarket tach and run it like normal. For the Dakota box, do a search for TH350 swaps. I know a couple guys have went the Dakota route getting their speedo to work.

For the fuel set up I am putting a fuel cell in the hatch area. With an areomotive fuel pump. Not realy concerned about the speedo. just the important guages. Thanks for the input here. Has anyone put a carb. motor in an f body. Do they have to cut any of the cowling?
