Removing the dash on a 93-96Z
Removing the dash on a 93-96Z
Before i went ahead and started tearing into things i was wondering the best way to go about removing and then reinstalling the upper dash of my Z. When i bought the car the dash was cracked in several places and was covered with a dash mat. The mat is ok, but im getting tired the damn mat starting to fly up when i going fast and the window are down/T's are off.
I found a wrecked 95 V6 in a local junkyard that was hit in the front (airbags went off), but the upper part of the dash was still in good visible shape.
I want to know: A) Can i still use the dash off the wrecked car even though the air bags went off. and B) How do i get the upper dash off? how many bolts/clips are there and what are the locations of them? Pics would be nice if available... thanks guys...

Re: Removing the dash on a 93-96Z
What part exactly are you refering to? The big huge piece of plastic that goes to the windshield? If so that's super easy to take off and you can use it even if the bags went off. Just unscrew and remove the A-pillar covers and pop the dash up. It is held on by "hook and loop" type fasteners just slowly work your way around the dash cover as to not crack the new one. You should take the cracked one out of your car first to see what I mean before you try removing the good one.

do a search on google for installing new face gauges.. i know there is a website out there that shows how to take apart the dash to install new gauges.. so it will get you far enough to take apart alot of the dash... its basically a bunch of screws, and you just have to know the order to take them out
