You are more likely to get a response on "LT1 Tech"... the subject has been covered several times there. Moving to LT1 Tech,

When I do it, I pull the pulley and the hub at the same time using a puller. Don't forget the bolt in the front of the crank.

What i do, and found works excellent is:

unbolt the pulley, unbolt the hub, pull pulley off with a 3 jaw puller (make sure you dont get the claws hooked on the hub, just the pulley)

find a harmonic balancer puller (rent it from autozone, same with the 3 jaw) the one from autozone needs to be filed out to fit the bolts, pretty easy

go buy some bolts. 3 7/16-14 x 4" and 1 3/8 x like 5 or 6 inches. GRADE 8 you do not want these to bend.

cut the threads off the 3/8" bolt, file the end down and taper the edges slightly, put some antiseize on it, slide it in the crank

set the puller up on the hub and go at it.

you can do the same thing for the crank sprocket, just cut the 3/8" bolt down more.

now putting the ****er back on is a different story......BFH

Be sure you understand how the hub is made. There is not a big space in the middle like an old SBC balancer-just a hole for the bolt. You must use something in the middle to push against or you just end up pushing against the hub, itself.

He'res the method I used (after pulling the balancer and the hub bolt of course).

Standard 3 bolt puller (less than $10 at most auto part stores). In addition you'll need 3 ea 5/16" x 4"L grade 8 hex head bolts and 1 each 5/16" x 4" grade 8 allen head bolt. You can find these at Ace Hardware - you'll need them cause the bolts supplied with the puller are too short, and the head of the puller is to big to seat against the crank without using the allen bolt as an extension.
