Remove thermostat during flush

Hey All,

I am curious to know:

Should you remove the thermostat when flushing the engine? I found quite a bit of rust in the Radiator and need to do a full flush. I was just wondering to get the flushing chemicals in and out of the engine block?

Also I have changed my coolant about ever 3 years and this should not be happening. I use GM puchased Dex-Cool. Is there a different Fluid I could use? I hear great things about Toyota Pink and the Vibe and Matrix share the fluid so can I just switch to it after the full flush?

TY

Removing the thermostat would allow better flushing. You can use whatever coolant you wish after completely flushing.
