Reluctor ring replacement

Where can I find a spacer to replace my reluctor ring on the crank?

If your still planning on going to OBD1 you don't need a reluctor ring. You don't need it on OBD2 either but you have to tune out the crank position sensor. OBD1 cars don't have one. On OBD2 cars it is only there for misfire detection. With your cc503 cam your going to get a code for random misfire anyways unless you tune it out or set your idle way high to get rid of the chop.

ATI includes one with their super dampers. You may call them and see if they will sell one to you or tell you the thickness. You could also use a 93-95 crank hub if you have removed the reluctor ring already.

I think he understands the purpose of the reluctor ring. If I read his question correctly, he wants to eliminate it, and replace it with a spacer. A couple good suggestions in the post above. Another idea would be to measure the reluctor and make a spacer to match the thickness..... or why not just leave the reluctor there?

I'm looking for a spacer to replace the reluctor ring because I have a Cloyes double roller installed. I thought about a '93-'95 crank hub but I figured the spacer would be the more cost effective way to go.

OK.... Cloyes double roller, not stock timing set. That may alter the thickness of the spacer required. Hopefully someone who has done the Cloyes can respond.

I had a lengthy discussion with the head guy at Cloyes years ago about this issue. If I remember correctly we figured the crank gear from the 9-3145 timing set was roughly the same width as the stock crank gear + reluctor ring (cloyes made the stock timing set for GM). You can give them a call if you want to double check, they're very pleasant to talk to and they know their stuff.

On my stroker I'm using that timing (9-3145) set minus a tooth on the chain with an ATI damper with no spacer and it works fine.

I'll do some measuring and get it figured out, but it was looking like it was going to be OK without a spacer. Just wanted to check with you guys that have more experience than me. LOL
