Let me put it simple.

It's made for 93 octane......YOU SHOULD RUN 93 octane. But if 91 is all you can get then by all means put the best you have.......2 or 3 points won't make your engine detonate or even see a difference (there are sensors for all that--so all those crappy sensors actually do something i thought they put them in there to make it hard to work on so they can up the labor......lol) And for you guys running regular Go ahead and save a dime---but i sure wouldn't

only 93 in my Z

Holly crap 4 pages on what gas to use, you have to be kidding. Plain and simple 91 or up. Nothing under 93 for me ever. One time a kid at a station put 87 in by mistake. I made the owner pump that **** out and put in 93. Of lately I've been putting in sunoco 110 mixed with 100 or 94. So it cost me 35 to fill-up ,big deal you would to if you had a 200shot running on a stock lt1

thats going a little overboard, making him pump it out Its not going to hurt our cars if they run on 87

Stock LT1? I wouldn't have a problem running something less than premium. I think more often than not, the differences are psychological .

Some of you guys will love this...

99R6... 120hp, 600cc's.. 12.4:1 CR..

87 octane

But phil, doesn't it have to do more with dynamic compression ration then static? I'm GUESSING that the yamaha high rpm motor has a lower dynamic compression ratio. I have no basis for that, just guessing from the tiny little bit i know about cam tech.

My car definitly did not like the 87 octane turkey hill gas it got once. My brother put the gas in, i didn't even know it. I was like "oh crap, whats wrong with my car". then the truth came out and i filled her back up with the good stuff. For a buck a tank i haven't experimented since.

I will just say this, I NEVER notice any difference what so ever whether i use 87 or 93(if i can find 93 around here), i usually go with 89.

this wont make much sense but...

if you car is made to run diesel, would you put gas in it???

if your car is made to run on 10w30 would you put straight 60 in it???

our cars were made to run on 93, so i dont put anything but 93... even octance boosters when i can afford it

And guess what, NO DIFFERENCE.
