Redline?

I have a 95' Trans AM A4, and the transmission is broken. 3rd and 4th gear are completely gone.

Anyways I was racing some 99+ Gt Stang, which I kicked his *** all the way up until about 80MPH when I noticed I was at approximately 6,000RPM in second gear.

Do these cars not have limiters? I had the car put in second, because if you put it in drive it trys to switch to 3rd and you just free rev.

When does the limiter kick in? Could my gauges be off?

The rev limiter should have kicked in at about 6000 rpm. I don't think your gauges are off, the fact that your missing 3-4 isn't good, if you are going to rebuild that tranny, you don't want to get it too hot, and check your oil from time to time, I had a sweet 91 chevy pickup I fried third and forth and drove it all the time tacking it up in second. The engin ran hot and burnd my oil slowly, I wound up throwing two piston caps through my oil pan.

factory rev limiter is 6200 rpm... and its a spark cutoff setup rather than a fuel cutoff I believe.
