Angry Shoebox or Injuneer need some help Crank position sensor

i just installed a new 360 ci motor with mildly ported heads, hot cam, 11 to 1 pistons, headers etc. i now have a code p0336 for the perfromance of the crank position sensor. i ve since replaced the sensor and the code is still there. could it be the cam that is falsely trigger it or the increased compression? i am going to get it reprogrammed but now it is running with the stock tune w/ the power programmer. i need to keep it because of emmission reasons. how do i get rid of this. they wont pass me if there is a code. this has been driving me crazy.

thanks

justin

Are you sure the reluctor was re-installed when the engine work was done? After erasing, does the code come back immediately when the engine is fired up or under some other circumstances?

Don't know if there is a way to see if it is there. Perhaps through the hole with the sensor removed? I think someone else posted a diagram of mine showing it's location (between hub and crank gear). If you put the engine together, do you not know if you installed it?

Did you put a double roller timing chain on your car?
We put one on my buddy's 96 LT1 motor and we had to take the reluctor ring off since it rubbed on the chain. He is running OBD1 so we have no issues on his car.

The reluctor ring is round with square notches cut-out, looks like a gear with squared off teeth and it is pretty thin, about 1/8" maybe.
I've got the one we removed if you need to see a pic of it.

I just took some pics of the one I have and it looks totally different from the above description I gave earlier.

Here are the pics,

I'm sure it looks pretty much like it does in the drawing.
