Recommendations

I have a friend with a 96 z28 stock lt1, and hes looking to upgrade his cam, i don't know what to tell him, anybody have any recommendations of a good cam? (links if ya can) thanks

Depends on what he wants out of it, how its being driven (DD, street, track, etc), and if he plans on heads as well. My recommendation would be a custom from Lloyd Elliot or Advanced Induction.

i don't know if he plans to get new heads but im pretty sure it'll be daily driven/ and maybe down to the track on the weekends

sounds alot like my situation...im goin to order mine from advanced induction sometime in the near future...probably close to the cc503

Before he even thinks about upgrading to a bigger cam on a stock car he needs good intake and exhaust modifications, period. This includes headers and y-pipe and a GOOD 3" cat-back exhaust at the bare minimum. Don't forget he'll need to factor in the cost of a tune as well.

Additionally, he'll want to install a new timing set, and depending on the mileage, maybe investigate the possibility of putting in a new optispark/water pump. Optional if your funds allow, but hey - it's already apart at this point.
