To get minimum injector size, multiply estimate flywheel HP X 0.07

Example:

500 flywheel HP x 0.07 = 35 #/HR

You can go larger - within reason, it will not cause any problems.

With a wet nitrous system, you size the injectors only for peak NA HP, since the extra fuel required for the nitrous does not pass through the injectors.

Avoid brands like Accel and Venom. Consider Delphi, Ford SVO. Take a look at the Racetronix injector choices.

okay so if im shooting for 450hp before n2o i times that by 0.07 i get 31.5. so should i go with lets say a 36lb injector to be safe?

You'll be safe with 32 pounders. The formula that Injuneer gave you estimates an 80% duty cycle...you wouldn't need 36's for any real reason. As Injuneer mentioned, you certainly can go larger but you don't need too for safety sake.

The number I quoted is based on an 85% DC and a BSFC of 0.476#/HR/HP.

Out of curiosity, why did you say to avoid Accel? I had their 36#'s for a few years with no issues, but have they had problems? The only thing negative that sticks out in my mind was their price.

And even then it seems like they are a lot cheaper than other injectors out there. Holy smokes, Delphi is another $150! :O

My comments regarding Accel and Venom injectors are based solely on what seems to be a large number problems I have seen reported on this and several other F-Body forums I've participated in over the last 12 years. I have not personally tried them.

That is not to say that every install of an Accel or a Venom injector will fail, only that it appears that you have reduced the chance of success by selecting them. If yours worked for several years with no problems, your roll of the dice came up in your favor.

My apologies for the incorrect information.

On to another point:

One thing to take into account is the fuel pressure used to generate the rated fuel flow. I believe Ford uses 38psi in their fuel systems and we use 43.5psi in ours. A 30#/hr SVO injector would flow 32#/hr in our fuel system....

Ford runs their fuel systems at 2.7 bar = 39.15 psi. To correct to the flow at 43.5 psi, multiply by 1.054

The LS1 engines run at 4 bar = 58.0 psi

Injectors made for those engines are flow rated at the system operating pressure.

I would run a 32 or if you plan to up the power later a 36lb. Try to match the injector to what the engine will actually produce now not next time you build it. I would lean toward the 32lb over the 36 with what you're doing, the calculation Injuneer gave you is fairly conservative imo.

Preferably these injectors, since they are the newest design and will give the best performance and response under cruise and idle conditions. The price is right too.
