Rebuilt rearend...now no speedo?!?!?
Rebuilt rearend...now no speedo?!?!?
My brother just got his rearend completely rebuilt (nuked it) Anyways he just got it back today and now the speedo doesn't work. The mechanic that did it is good friends with the family so him and my brother are down at the shop right now looking at it, and they have no clue why the speedo isn't working. He did noticed one thing is that the ABS sensor and kinda chipped on one end, but the ABS light isn't on or anything? Anyone experienced this before or have any insight on this problem? Thanks!
BTW it's a 95 Z28 M6 and they put GM motive 3:73's and Auburn posi unit!

yeah, the speedo on my '84 doesnt work cause the trans we installed wasnt equiped w/ a speedo-gear... I dont know about the 4L60E but on 700R4's there is a plastic red gear that is on the tailshaft of the trans and the speed is read via a metal tab the the gear clicks evertime the gear turns... if you gotta replace the gear, get a gear puller and w/ different gears in the car, i dont think the speedo will read correctly anyhow. but it would only be off a few mph

There is nothing required in a rear end rebuild that would affect the VSS in any way. Hard to believe they could have knocked the connector off, even accidentally.
