rebuild cost?
Re: rebuild cost?
Depends how much you do yourself. Welding the head is not the expensive part. It's removal, disassembly/reassembly, re-installation. If you have a good shop do it all it will likely be in the $500-800 range. But a lot depends on the prevailing local labor rate. Here, the only shop that does this kind of work right charges $80/h. But in some areas it's more like $40-50/h or even less. Urban v. rural, area of the country, local competitors, etc. all play a role.

Or you could just buy a replacement head. sometimes you can find a single, but you may have to buy the pair. I got mine used, fully assembled in perfect working condition for $200.

What Would You Look For In A Shop To Know That They Are Experts
With Engine Rebuilds? A Lot Of The Shops Here In San Fernando Valley Have A Sign That Says "general Mechanic" But When You Talk To Them They All Claim To Do Engine Rebuilds And I Dont Think I Can
Trust Them....are There Any Questions I Can Ask To Test Them And Correct Answers To Know?
