Rear main seal leaking oil

Rear main seal leaking oil
This has got to take the cake for the dumbest thing I've ever done. I forgot to torque down the harmonic balancer bolts to specs and the engine started making a clanking sound. Now I have an oil leak that appears to be comming from the rear main. Can I drop my 4L60E and redo it or do I have to pull the motor? Thanks guys.

with the motor out it takes maybe 10min to replace the rearmain. It's easiest to drop the oilpan and it's required to remove the flexplate/flywheel and tranny. While you're at it since you think it's the rear main seal that's leaking oil, change the oilpan gasket too. Get a nice 1piece rubber gasket and you'll never have a leak again, assuming everything else is ok with the motor. Let's hope that knock didn't damage something. Worth an inspection if you take the oil pan off.
