rear main seal leak
Re: rear main seal leak
If it is the rear main seal leaking, the tranny needs to come out, followed by your torque convertor and flex plate. The rear main seal is now exposed and can be pryed out with a flat blade screw driver. Clean the mating surface, grease the inside of the new seal and be sure to tap the new seal in place evenly. I used a section of hard tubing I got at Home Depot that matched the diameter of the seal's metal ring and attached a metal plate to the end of the tubing so I could tap it in with a hammer. Use loctite on the flex plate bolts when reinstalling.
