Re: direct fit magnaflow muffler?

Here's a starting place..

http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...ne=main&id=478

the diagram labels are incorrect on this one. The two outlets are 2.5" and the inlet is 3" (The outlets are aligned, but on opposite sides of the muffler)

and

http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...ne=main&id=636

The labels on this diagram are correct.

Now... hooking the intermediate pipe (that comes from the cat over the axle) is a no brainer..

The absence of tail pipes from the magnaflow muffler is an issue tho...

The stock muffler has complete tail pipes (up to the tips), so tail pipes have to be scavenged from the stock muffler and "rigged up", or bought from somewhere... (Where, I don't know???)

And then either reuse the stock tips, or buy some after market ones..

Note: In this discussion I've identified the muffler that would fit my car... 3" inlet, 2.5" outlets..

LMK if you figure out the tail pipe business...

thx

Re: direct fit magnaflow muffler?

JT,

Thanks so much for the reply....this is exactly the kind of information I needed. I believe my shop will be able to handle the "rigging" parts that you mentioned as they do exhaust work....I just wanted to know which Magnaflow muffler was the one I needed. Do you think I will be pleased with the sound of this muffler given the mods in my sig? I don't care about it being really loud....would actually prefer that it not be, but i know it has to be louder to flow better and gain the performance. I just want to be able to hear more engine and less muffler, if you know what I mean

Re: direct fit magnaflow muffler?

I've been researching muffler vs. a catback system...

dude just posted here this PM that on eBay one can get a magnaflow catback for $185 plus shipping...

I've got to check there again, 'cause I can't seem to find any for less than say $330 plus shipping...

One thing tho... Let's not both start a bidding war on the same auction...

My eBay handle is the same as this one here..

I think the muffler will sound/perform much better, but the catback even more so...

And for the price (if 185 is legit), then it is just bolt up and go, so you save $ there..

JT,

Well if you do find a link to the catback system, let me know I've got time to wait....not gonna do anything right away so I won't bid against you

Re: direct fit magnaflow muffler?

yeah..i'm the "dude"...it was dynomax. but...they are great. my friend's had it before he went with a STS setup. he paid just over 200 shipped to the door...with my paypal so i know how much it was. granted this was a year ago, i'm pretty sure they havent gone up that much.

ful stainless 3" catback to the muffler (polished stainless btw). out factory style where one goes out one side and the other goes out the other side into 2 2.5" pipes and then into 3.5" slant cut polished tailpipes.....looks great.
