is it really true???

is it true that an oiled air filter can mess up your your bands and clutches and set off SES lights???

if you oil your filter you need to let it dry then you'l be fine...a lot of people simply oil them and put them right back in...

this can cause your MAP readings to be off and knock all sorts of stuff out of wack...

and for those of us who arent still under warranty, you bear the chance of everything named in that announcement...

as long as you dont over oil your filter and as long as you let it dry you'll be fine...

yes i did read the announcement ,where do you think i got the idea... i can understand oil getting in you MAF and messing things up but that still has nothing to do with the clutches and bands in your tranny... i asked b/c i keep havin problems with my tranny going out (twice in 6 months)

Pretty basic auto mechanics is going to tell you that no air the engine inhales goes into your transmission. I guess the odd nature of your question threw people off. Maybe they thought it was a joke.

Before you start pointing fingers, you might want to consider if you know what you are talking about.

Obviously we don't know what we are talking about, please move this to advanced tech to explain the path of intake air and how it enters the tranny,

Also, your nitrous kit could be freezing the gears in the tranny causing them to bind, look into that as well.

The PCM decides what line pressure the tranny will use based on various sensor inputs. If these sensors are giving false readings (because of oil on them or another reason), you will get a line pressure that is too high or too low. This could cause your transmission problems.

I don't know of any time it directly uses the MAF or IAT for any transmission calculations, though (mostly TPS and VSS for MPH). The MAF or IAT would be the only sensors that would get oil on it from an over-oiled filter.
