Re: Really Bad Shaking Idle Problem???

Do you have anyway of datalogging it?

Could be a bad opti, knock, running too rich or too lean at idle, clogged IAC, dirty maf, etc.

Re: Really Bad Shaking Idle Problem???

So it didn't run without the maf? It might take a few tries to get it going. Just unplug it and try to start it. Clean the IAC?

Is it throwing any codes at all?

Re: Really Bad Shaking Idle Problem???

yea try it with MAF disc. heres a pic of the IAC, f/ shoebox:

that needs to be cleaned so it will seal properly, and the housing it seals to as well, but don't force it in/out.

Re: Really Bad Shaking Idle Problem???

I had the same problem your having and someone recommended that I clean out my IAC. I cleaned it up and it worked. It now idles great. Does it run fine after you give it gas? Does it only do it when you have the a/c on or when you turn your steering wheel while at idle? If so, it's probably the IAC. Those were the symptoms I had.

Re: Really Bad Shaking Idle Problem???

First make sure you go to the store and get a throttle body gasket. Take out the 4 screws holding the the throttle body onto the manifold. Then disconnect any lines that need to be disconnected from the TB in order to be able to move it so you can get to the IAC. I found it easier to just disconnect everything and remove the whole throttle body. It only took about 10 minutes to get it off and 10 more to get it back on. Either way it's an easy job. Hopefully that will help your problem.

I don't think its the IAC if it even shakes while accelerating......but the IAC is probably dirty if you've never cleaned it, so it needs to be cleaned anywayz. But if you have a violent shake while accelerating or free reving, its something else, I would think ignition - maybe burnt wire after install? bad opti or coil? Did it have these symptoms before you changed the opti/coil/wires/plugs? Same? Worse? Maybe motor mount?
