Random Tech Only Option For Y pipe?

I'm looking to replace my factory Y pipe & cats with something that is street legal/inspectable.

The only solutions I can find that will bolt up to the stock manifolds are the factory replacements ($1000.00+) and the Random Technology Y pipe with high flow cats ($500).

Is there any other solution for replacing clogged cats on this car without spending more $$?

Thomas.

If you have a visual inspection you could fail that with the Random Techs. They aren't in the exact location as the GM parts. Some ***** could cost you a lot of $$ at the testing station. Just thought you should know....

I would have an exaust shop (not many will do it) fab you up a custom off road Y-pipes and then bolt on the stockers for emissions time. After the inspection put the off road pipes back on.

I suppose that would be an option, but I'm hoping to find something that I won't have to mess with again. Hence my search for something I can install that is inspectable.

I think the Random Tech pipe would be fine here in TX, as I've never had an issue with moving a cat's location, only had issues when I've removed the cat(s) completely; I just wish it were a bit cheaper.

I think once you get over 80,000 miles you get some leeway on the cat rules. My Random pipe has both side by side where one was so as long as I have 2 cats I'm legal.

I would shoot for a used set and save some cash. It really is a very nice setup.

Lightbulb Stainless Works Y-Pipe

Summit sells a Stainless Works Y-pipe with converters for $549.95, or you can just buy the y-pipe for$199.95(aluminum), $299.95(stainless) and get the cats somewhere else like ebay. Part#s STW-CA957DCS for y-pipe with cats, STW-CA957DCOA for aluminum y-pipe, and STW-CA957DCOS for stainless y-pipe.

You can always go with MAC headers and y-pipe. The cats are in the stock location as far as I know. I believe you can get the whole package for $600 (ish).

Thumbs up Thanks for the replies

Thanks for the suggestions guys

I think I will order the Random Tech Y pipe from Performance SS. They have it for $500 + shipping = $518.00 or so. And currently, they are offering a $20 discount for online orders of $400 or more, so I can get it shipped to me for a bit under $500.

Does Random Tech p/n# 943003 include O2 extensions? Will I even need O2 extensions with this pipe?

Passenger cat is in the same place so you'll need an 02 extention for the driver side. I paid about the same for mine 3 years ago.
