Ram Air vs. Cold air intake
Wasn't there a thread on this very subject discussed in great detail just a few short days ago?
However look how much higher the scoops are on the cars you mention than on the SS setup. Most of the uselessness of the SS style ram air comes from the fact that the scoop sits extremely low on the hood so airflow passes over the scoop making it a dead spot for "ram air".

I'll keep my WS6 ram air even if its worse. At least I can clean the filter without jacking up the damn car. How many CAI guys have seen how dirty their filters are? With the baffles out of the hood its straight into the intake..........can't get much better than that.
OK........I will give ya there is something known as a "chill factor" that has to do with moving air and the human body, but a fan does not cool the air. A car doesn't sweat nor wear protective clothing.
WOW!! What in the world are you guys thinking about or smoking??

A fan is always setup directly in front of the radiator to replicate moving air into the radiator keeping the water temp more consistent. In this case a second fan was placed directly in front of a section of intake to replicate fast moving air directly into it in an attempt to see if there were any gains with a sealed system.
With the second fan blowing directly into the intake the car picked up about 14 hp. Remove it and it goes away even though nothing else has changed.
As for the functionality as compared to CAI or SS hoods, I really can't compare. It just seems to me that even if you're not getting more air, it is possibly moving ever so slightly better due to the straight through design. You know, like straight through mufflers? Only on the opposite end of the engine.
