When I put the LT1 in my 69, I just connected the temp sending unit to the idiot light. Its actually for a guage and I've gotten used to the light getting brighter as the engine warms up. My question is; does anyone know a car/year/engine with the same size sending unit that came an idiot light. The local parts stores have problems trying to find a part number for a sending unit for an idiot light. I really don't want to clutter it up by putting a guage in.

Any late model small block idiot light sending unit should work. For example ask for an idiot light sender for an 85 camaro V8.

 

I know the original 69 sender was a completely different size.

 

Anything recently late-model should be the same. If not, you can probably make it work with some pipe thread adapters.
