There is no technical specification for "racing fuel". What exactly are you planning to run? Excessively high octane unleaded fuel will neither help or harm your engine, as long as you aren't getting knock on the recommend octane pump fuel. Leaded high octane fuel can contaminate the O2 sensors over time, and poison the catalytic converter.

You might want to post this in the advanced tech section as the question could pertain to any engine. I've actually heard of this happening, but I don't know if that is factually true.

Well it will probly not gain you any power at all unless you change the fuel and timeing tables to go with it.

I run about 3 gallons of 100 unleaded in each tank of gas to try and
offset the crappy CA 91 octane premium fuel. The car loves it and the
only downside is the cost.

Not sure how to state it any more clearly than that.

I remember 102-107 octane Sunoco running in everyday cars in the 80's so you should be fine.

On a few occasions, I have run the car down pretty low at the track, and had to get the lowest octane they had on tap and it was 110. There were no performance differences and no damage, but then again I haven't had a cat on this car for more then 6 years, and my O2's looked/worked OK when I swapped out them out doing headers last year...

some people need the higher octane for higher comperssion ratios. 11 to 1 is about the limit for 93 on the street. People with say 13 to 1 engines would need the higher octane to prevent knocking, pre-det... ect
