Racetronix Fuel System Kit INstall
Racetronix Fuel System Kit INstall
Just finished the fuel pump installation. Followed the instructions that they emailed me as close as possible but the pump wiring instructions seemed to be a bit out of date. My pump came with a connector already on it that matched the factory installed connector. The instructions said to hook the red wire up to where the grey wire was. Problem is that I didn't have a red wire and it seemed to me that the smart thing to do was to remove the purple wire that runs from sending unit to the connector and put it in the new connector in the same position as the stock unit.
At any rate pump ran for all of four minutes and died. Doesn't seem to be priming and the car won't start. Oh and the fuel gage is pegged beyond the Full indicator. No fuses blown or anything just no start. Slightly frustrating to say the least and now it looks like no car for another week. Damn!

Re: Racetronix Fuel System Kit INstall
Just wanted to update everyone on this install. Turns out that a wire broke on the connector from the fuel pump to the sending unit. Really more of my fault than RaceTronix, because I shortened a wire to put on a new connector. RaceTronix does need to update their instructions slightly - the newest version of the kit has a new connector that plugs into the stock pins, you don't plug the pump wires into the existing connector, you do the opposite and connect the purple wire that's on the sending unit into the "new" connector. I would also like to see them include instructions for their chassis ground upgrade kit, but honestly most of this installation is self-explanatory.
I do want to say how great the customer support at Racetronix is. I got replies to technical issues after hours and on weekends. The kit that you get is top quality and goes in as well as can be expected. The install isn't the easiest that I've ever done. I chose to cut an access hole to access the fuel pump. Made me nervous, but I'm happy I went that way after finishing it. Fuel line connectors aren't the easiest to get to going this route, but it can be done.
Thanks to RACETRONIX and to my friend and expert mechanic BRANDBOZ28, another CZ28 board member who really knows his way around an F-Body.
